WAYNE – The Wayne High softball team competed in their 12th game in the past 17 days.
WHS was at home for only their second regular season game when Columbus High visited the Summer Sports Complex Thursday evening. Wayne High competed in three games at home during an Invitational early in the season.
WHS made quick work of the Discoverers with a pair of six-run innings in the second and third to win 12-0. Wayne High has now won 12 straight to improve to 19-2 on the season while Columbus falls to 9-16 on the season.
Four Blue Devils accounted for two hits each and three of them drove in two runs each in the exception for Maysn Dorey who accounted for three RBI off of a single and double. Jenna Trenhaile singled and tripled, Kennedy Maly doubled twice, Sidney Biggerstaff doubled and tripled as Abby Ankeny doubled and Kayla Fleming singled while driving in a run each.
Tori Kniesche picked up the complete game shutout, no-hitter win in three innings. She struck out six batters and walked one.

The Wayne High softball team will get a week off before they’re right back on the road on Thursday, September 21. WHS will visit Wisner-Pilger as the Blue Devils will have four regular season games left, the Adams Central Invite and Mid State Conference Tournament before the District Tournament.
