Blue Devil Volleyball Ends Season Saturday

WEST POINT – After the past two years of Pierce representing the C1-7 Subdistrict, the Wayne High volleyball team continued their postseason run Saturday afternoon.

The Class C1-4 District Sub-State Final was held at West Point-Beemer High School between #4 North Bend Central and #13 Wayne High.

NBC won 2-1 twice in a pair of regular season tournaments over WHS.

North Bend Central secured the three-set sweep over Wayne High (25-17, 25-22, 25-17). The Tigers improve to 30-1 overall as WHS ends their season at 19-13.

Lauren Pick led the Blue Devils at the net with 10 kills and three service aces while Kylie Hammer added another four. Allyson Avery tallied 15 set assists as Erin O’Reilly tacked on another eight. Emily Armstrong recorded a team-high 11 digs. Korinna Niemann and Hammer each added two service aces while Shania Anderson picked up three solo blocks.

Other Class C1 Sub-State results found #1 Grand Island Central Catholic swept #16 Arlington; #2 Wahoo swept #15 Auburn;  #3 Lincoln Lutheran swept #14 Broken Bow; #12 Minden won in four sets over #5 Mitchell; #6 Malcolm won in five sets over #11 Syracuse; #7 Ord swept #10 Bishop Neumann and #8 Omaha Concordia swept #9 Ogallala.
