WAYNE – Several awards were handed out during the end of the year school-wide Athletic Banquet for Wayne High School.
The night was highlighted by inducting Rocky Ruhl, Monica (Novak) Christie and Brad Hochstein into the Wayne High Athletic Hall of Fame.
Following dinner at the Frey Conference Suite on the campus of Wayne State College, the program continued.
Each three-sport in one year, academic all-state and individual awards for sports were distributed for freshman, sophomore, junior and senior athletes.
As stated by outgoing Booster Club President, Tammy Evetovich, since 2003 the Booster Club has raised around $825,000 for Wayne High athletics. Travis Meyer will be the next President of the club.
Most Outstanding/Valuable Player Awards were given to athletes voted on by their teammates.
Junior Kylie Hammer earned the award in volleyball, girls track and girls basketball. Others included junior Jack Evetovich (boys cross country), sophomore Hannah Leonard (girls cross country), senior Tyler Pecena (football), junior Megan Keiser (girls golf), junior Jenna Trenhaile (softball), senior Mikey Reyes (wrestling), senior Payten Gamble (boys basketball), sophomore Payton DeWald (boys golf), senior Grayson McBride (boys track) and senior Tucker Nichols (baseball).
