NORFOLK – 12 varsity and a pair of junior varsity northeast Nebraska High School boys golf teams competed in the Lutheran High Northeast Invitational Thursday.
From the Norfolk County Club, Creighton won the team title by 17 strokes with a 338 followed in second by Battle Creek shooting a 355.
Ponca finished third with a 362, Norfolk Catholic placed fourth shooting a 364 and Pierce rounded out the top five teams with a 374. Lutheran High Northeast (sixth – 388), Norfolk JV (seventh – 391), Wakefield (eighth – 400), Wisner-Pilger (ninth – 415), West Point-Beemer (10th – 416), Crofton (11th – 425), Niobrara-Verdigre (T-12th – 428), Wayne High (T-12th – 428) and Norfolk Catholic JV (14th – 443).
Creighton’s Chase Largen won the individual title with a 73, followed by Teague Stewart of West Point-Beemer/Scribner-Snyder shooting a 78 as Ty Heimes (Battle Creek) and Brady Brockhaus (Creighton) each tied for third with an 84.
Wakefield’s leading golfer was Matt Christensen with a 93 to tie for 19th. Parker Lehmkuhl shot a 94 (T-21st), Ben Klein a 98 (T-30th), Noah Lamprecht a 115 (T-59th) and Payton Rusk a 116 (T-62nd).
Jonah Brodersen shot the low Wayne High score on the day with a 99 to tie for 32nd. Garret Reynolds shot a 103 (T-41st), Shea Sweetland a 110 (T-52nd), Austin Fernau a 116 (T-62nd) and Peyton DeWald a 117 (64th).
Wayne High boys golf is next in action on Saturday, April 22 for the Mid State Conference Invite. GACC will be the host team with tee time set for 9 a.m. at the Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer.
Wakefield boys golf will take part in the Pender Invitational on Saturday, April 22. Tee time is set for 9 a.m. at Twin Creeks Golf Course.
