Class C District Wrestling Results

DAVID CITY/CROSS COUNTY/ST. PAUL – Several northeast Nebraska wrestling teams took part in three separate Class C District Wrestling Tournaments on Friday and Saturday.

From Aquinas Catholic High School in David City during the C1 District it was Battle Creek winning the overall team title with 224.5 points, followed in second from Aquinas Catholic with 165.5 points and O’Neill placed third (127).

Wilber-Clatonia (fourth – 102), Fort Calhoun (fifth – 101.5), Bishop Neumann (sixth – 88), Logan View (seventh – 85.5), South Central Nebraska Unified District #5 (eighth – 82), Central City (ninth – 79), Crofton/Bloomfield (10th – 74), Johnson County Central (11th – 70), Shelton/Kenesaw (12th – 67), Twin River (13th – 23), Stanton (14th – 22.5), Ponca (15th – 19) and Lincoln Lutheran (16th – 11).

C1 Tournament Results

Individual qualifiers for state from Battle Creek: Caydon McCracken (106 – first), Collin Burton (113 – fourth), Owen Lade (120 – first), Damien Kersten (126 – first), Ty Heimes (132 – third), Preston Bussey (138 – second), Blake Heller (145 – second), Austin Marx (195 – third), Jan-lou de Jager (220 – second) and Thai Thompson (285 – third); from O’Neill: Elias Lorenzo (113 – third), Caden Moore (145 – first), Cauy Shaw (152 – third), Bailey Thompson (195 – first) and Jason Hahlbeck (220 – first); and from Crofton/Bloomfield: Quinten Moles (152 – fourth), Jaden Janssen (160 – third), Ethan Poppe (182 – third) and Kaleb Johnson (195 – fourth).

From Cross County High School during the C2 District it was David City being crowned champions with 175 points, while Cross County/Osceola took second with 134 points and Raymond Central finished third (129).

Gibbon (fourth – 128), Centennial (fifth – 120), Wood River (sixth – 114), Wakefield (seventh – 77), Doniphan-Trumbull (eighth – 74), Arlington (ninth – 68), Fillmore Central (10th – 66.5), Yutan (11th – 57), Lincoln Christian (12th – 38), Grand Island Central Catholic (13th – 28), Shelby-Rising City (14th – 24), Red Cloud/Blue Hill (15th – 12) and Hastings St. Cecilia (16th – 4).

C2 Tournament Results

Area state qualifiers from Wakefield: Isaac Verzani (145) took fourth, Cody Thomas (182) finished first and Moises Barboza (220) placed second.

From St. Paul High School during the C3 District it was Syracuse taking home the team title with 176 points, followed by North Bend Central in second with 140 points as Norfolk Catholic and Sutton tied for third with 104 points.

C3 Tournament Results

Area state qualifiers from Norfolk Catholic: Wyatt Smydra (120 – third), Jonah Heng (132 – third), Dillon Hupp (145 – third) and Sam Cantu (285 – second); from Pierce: Cody Yawn (132 – second) and Ryder Fuchs (182 – second); and from Wisner-Pilger: Cooper VonSeggern (170 – first) and Kaden Henry (220 – first).

The 2017 NSAA State Wrestling Championships will be held from the Century Link Center in Omaha on Thursday, February 16 – Saturday, February 18.
