WAYNE – For the third straight week, the Wayne State College women’s track and field team has an individual honored with a weekly NSIC award.
Junior Michaela Dendinger (Coleridge, NE/Hartington Public HS) has earned all three of the NSIC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Over the weekend, Dendinger recorded three NCAA automatic marks for the first time in the same meet during the UNK Loper Invitational in Kearney.
She won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 52’ 1 ¾”, which is now the top mark in NCAA Division II. The Coleridge native also took second in the discus (165’) and third in the hammer throw (203’ 1”), marking the third time this year she has surpassed the 200-foot mark.
The NSIC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week was awarded to junior distance-runner Emi Trost from Minnesota Duluth.
The Wayne State College women’s and men’s track & field team is next in action on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22. WSC will compete in the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa.
