WAYNE – Northeast Nebraska high school volleyball teams will continue postseason play Thursday and Saturday of this week and just need one win to qualify for state.
In Class C1, Wayne High was crowned Subdistrict champions with a three-set sweep over Pierce. WHS (19-12) earned a #13 seed and will face #4 North Bend Central (29-1) on Saturday, November 4. The game will be held from West Point-Beemer at 1 p.m.
In Class C2, Hartington Cedar Catholic (31-0) is the overall #1 seed after being crowned Subdistrict champions over Ponca. HCC will battle #16 Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur (18-16) also on Saturday. at 1 p.m. from Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College.
Also in Class C2, Ponca (28-5) secured a wildcard spot as the #7 seed and will take on #10 North Platte St. Patrick’s (23-9) on Saturday in Aurora starting at Noon. Subdistrict champion #4 Stanton (28-3) vs. #13 Thayer Central (18-15) at Cross County starting at 5 p.m. and Subdistrict champion #14 Creighton (17-8) vs. #3 Centura (27-5) from Central Community College in Columbus starting at 1 p.m. will also continue their season this weekend.
Thursday night District volleyball in Class D2 will feature Wynot (20-7) taking on Humphrey St. Francis (24-5) from Norfolk Catholic at 7 p.m.
