Gothenburg Outlasts Broken Bow

BROKEN BOW – Gothenburg got out to an early lead and never lost it against their rivals on Friday night.

The Swedes traveled to Broken Bow and defeated the Indians 21-10.

Bennett Folkers put Gothenburg on the board with a 16-yard throw to Tyce Hruza with 2:28 left in the first quarter. The pair would connect on another 16-yard score with just over five minutes left in the half, but Broken Bow would answer back before the break with Grayson Grey finding Josh Harvey on a 32-yard fly. Gothenburg would take the 14-7 lead into halftime.

Garey capped off Broken Bow’s opening drive of the third quarter with a 26-yard field goal to cut Gothenburg’s lead to four, but with 4:45 remaining in the contest Folkers found room up the sideline for a 67-yard TD run to put the game away.

Owen Geiken led the Swedes with 50 yards receiving while Broken Bow’s Harvey led all receivers with 111 yards on four catches.

Broken Bow nets hosts Ogallala while Gothenburg hosts Cozad.
