WAYNE – With the football season over for Wayne State College, an individual who had an outstanding senior campaign has been named to the Division II CCA (Conference Commissioner’s Association) All-Super Region 4 Football Team.

The announcement came last Friday, December 1 that senior defensive back Glenn Harris took home Second Team honors on defense in voting done by sports information directors from Region 4. It’s the second straight season a Wildcat defensive back has collected All-Region honors following Cam Montgomery also being Second Team All-Region last year.

Harris, a 6-1, 180-pound senior defensive back from Kansas City, Missouri, was a First Team All-NSIC South Division selection this season after leading Wayne State and the NSIC with eight interceptions this season, which was tied for second in NCAA Division II. His eight interceptions also tied a single season school record shared by Steve Besch (1984) and Charlie Wendt (1970). Harris also tied for third in the NSIC this season with 12 passes defended.

Harris made interceptions in six games this season that included a season-best three interceptions at Augustana September 30th that tied a single game school record held by four other players. He also recorded interceptions vs. Mary, Minnesota Duluth, at Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul and Upper Iowa.

Harris had 34 tackles including 27 solo stops this season to go with 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four breakups. He recorded a season best six tackles, all solo, at #1 Minnesota State November 4th.

Harris will be joined by linebacker Emeka Etta and running back Rashad Trimble during the FCS Bowl and the National Bowl traveling to Florida this week, according to the Wayne State Football Twitter account.

Wayne State College finished the season at 6-5 overall and fourth in the NSIC South with a 4-3 divisional mark. It was the first winning season for the Wildcats since 2012.
