Hartington Cedar Catholic Qualifies For State Volleyball Back-To-Back Years

WAYNE – After seeing an early exit to the Class C2 State Championships last year, the Hartington Cedar Catholic Trojans will enter the 2017 Volleyball postseason tournament with an undefeated record.

Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College hosted the Class C2-1 District Sub-State volleyball round Saturday afternoon. #1 Cedar Catholic quickly moved into the state tournament bracket with a three-set sweep (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) over #16 Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur.

Hartington Cedar Catholic is now 32-0 while BRLD falls to 18-17.

Maddie Wieseler paced the Trojans at the net with eight kills, 18 set assists and eight digs. Anna Reifenrath followed with seven kills along with Jada Cattau tacking on seven kills and 13 digs. Ashley Hamilton added 16 set assists.

Other Class C2 Sub-State results found #2 Nebraska Christian sweeping #15 Burwell; #3 Centura sweeping #14 Creighton; #4 Stanton swept #13 Thayer Central; #5 Archbishop Bergan swept #12 Sandy Creek; #6 Superior won in four sets over #11 Bridgeport;  #7 Ponca swept #10 North Platte St. Patrick’s and #8 Southern Valley won in four sets over #9 South Loup.
