HARTINGTON – The Hartington-Newcastle girls basketball team ended two big droughts Friday, and now they’re looking for more.
The Wildcats won their first post-holiday tournament since 2003 and beat Wynot for the first time since 2008. With as well as they’ve played, another drought could be ending.
It’s been since 1998 that Hartington High has been represented at state. Newcastle had success before joining up with Hartington, winning two state championships, but they last qualified for state in 2009.
Now 9-1, Hartington-Newcastle next faces Randolph on the road on Tuesday.
