Hartington’s Patience Pays Off With 15 Runs in Win Over Stanton

HARTINGTON – Hartington Post #4 let the pitches come to them, and took advantage of the opportunities they were presented.

Hartington drew nine walks, adding eight hits in a 15-7 win in five innings over Stanton on Friday night.

Stanton struck first when Cameron Bates reached on a misplayed fly ball in the top of the first, scoring Brook Klinetobe.

But Hartington answered back in the bottom half of the inning, drawing six walks – four in a row at one point – to score four runs on just one base hit.

Stanton would chip into the lead with a run in the second and two more in the third, both off the bat of Bates, who drove in four runs total.

But Hartington’s bats came alive in the third, plating six runs and building an insurmountable lead.

Rightfielder Casper Jueden accounted for seven of Hartington’s 15 runs, scoring three and driving in four, including a bases-loaded triple in the 5th.
