Kearney Dominates Hastings for Second Straight GNAC Title

NORTH PLATTE – Kearney left very little doubt who would be the GNAC girls basketball championship Saturday.

The Bearcats outscored Hastings 32-12 over the course of the second and third quarters, forcing 25 turnovers in a 56-35 win in the GNAC Championship game.

Kearney found their rhythm close to the basket, particularly on driving attempts. Junior Alexis Mishou was key in extending the Bearcat lead, scoring 13 of Kearney’s second-half points.

The Bearcats’ defense kept Hastings from finding any rhythm, as the Tigers had committed more turnovers in the first half than they did in the entire game of their semi-final victory over Norfolk.

Kearney’s conference title is their second in a row, and third in the last four years. The Bearcats are leaving the GNAC for the Heartland Athletic Conference next season.
