WAYNE – Both the Wayne Blue and White Didgets and Broncos had their youth baseball teams in action Monday evening.
From the Tri-County League the Blues hosted Stanton while the Whites hit the road to Oakland.
The Wayne Blue Didgets picked up a 3-2 win over Stanton from the Summer Sports Complex to improve to 5-2 on the season. Wayne has now won five straight games after starting the season at 0-2.
Calvin Ankeny accounted for a pair of hits including the game winning hit for the Wayne Blue Didgets. Will Leseberg recorded a single and double, Kaden Keller added two singles as did Jase Dean and Gavin Redden singled, doubled and scored twice.
Redden started on the mound working four innings allowing three hits while striking out 10 batters. Dean came onto pitch the final two innings striking out five batters.
The Wayne Blue Broncos ran away with a 23-0 win over Stanton. The Broncos pick up their third straight win and now sit 6-1 on the season.
The Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos will next visit the Pierce White on Thursday, June 15 at 6/7:45 p.m.
Moving into the Whites competition, the Didgets suffered a 6-0 defeat to the Oakland Royals. The first, four innings were held scoreless, before Oakland started to bring runs across the plate. The Wayne White Didgets fall to 2-5 on the season.
Drew Reinhardt and Devin Anderson accounted for the team’s offensive hits.
Anderson suffered the loss in three and two-thirds before Colson Nelson and Zander Liston finished the game on the mound.
The Wayne White Broncos suffered an 8-7 loss to the Oakland Royals. With the loss, a four-game winning streak was snapped and Wayne is now 5-2 on the season.
Brooks Kneifl, Tanner Walling each scored two runs while Easton Blecke accounted for a run.
Wyatt Heikes and Walling each saw time on the mound.
Both the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos will next host Wisner on Thursday, June 15 at 6/7:45 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex.
