KEARNEY – The Wayne State College women’s and men’s cross country team closed out their season this past weekend during the Central Regional Meet.
From the Kearney Country Club in Kearney, Nebraska the Wildcats joined teams from their own conference (NSIC) as well as from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and Great American Conference (GAC) this past Saturday.
During the women’s 6K, University of Mary came away as the champions with 61 points while the Augustana University men scored 43 points to win the 10K men’s division.
The Wayne State College women’s cross country team finished 29th place out of 32 teams with a team score of 835 points as the men placed 25th out of 27 teams (707).
Freshman Molly McCartney paced the Wildcat women all season with a 135th overall mark in a time of 24:37, sophomore Kim Lowman placed 152nd at 24:59 and junior transfer Joan Jelimo finished 158th (25:11).
Other WSC results came from freshman Brianna Crouch (187th – 26:28), sophomore Josephine Peitz (203rd – 27:33) and freshman Sabrina Sack (211th – 29:51).
The Wildcat men’s leader was junior Isaias Solorio taking 141st in a time of 34:38, followed closely by sophomore Jack Doughty at 117th in 34:50 and freshman Bailey Peckham finished 154th (36:25).
Other WSC results came from freshman Brock Hegarty (156th – 36:27), sophomore Nathan Pearson (166th – 37:22) and freshman Nathan Hiemer (174th – 39:54).
