Norfolk Routs Grand Island For 13th Win

NORFOLK – Coming off a bad loss to Papillion-La Vista South, the Norfolk girls got a much-needed bounce-back win, taking down Grand Island at home Friday, 57-31.

Grand Island slowed the tempo early, and held a 5-4 lead halfway through the first quarter. But Norfolk was able to establish 6’1 senior Taylor Stoltz inside and pulled away.

Norfolk also got key contributions off their bench, with Anden Baumann pitching in 14 points on four-of-five shooting from beyond the arc, and Alex Ruth pulling down five rebounds.

The Panthers’ height gave the Islanders problems all evening, with Norfolk out-rebounding Grand Island 36-26.

The win was Norfolk’s third straight over Grand Island, and sixth in their last seven match-ups with the Islanders
