ALLIANCE/CENTRAL CITY – The opening two rounds of the Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament took place over the weekend for Classes B and C.
In Class B, held at Bower-Shankland Field in Alliance, Omaha Roncalli and Wahoo sit undefeated at 2-0.
First round scores on Saturday found Nebraska City defeating Blair (11-0), Omaha Roncalli winning over McCook (4-3), Wahoo downing O’Neill (16-3) and Gering defeating Alliance (2-1). Sunday found McCook eliminating Blair (2-1) while Alliance sent O’Neill home (14-1) and in the winner’s bracket Omaha Roncalli beat Nebraska City (11-0) as Wahoo won over Gering (19-5).
Monday’s schedule in the loser’s bracket will find Alliance taking on Nebraska City at 1 p.m. while Gering will face McCook at 4 p.m. and Wahoo will compete with Omaha Roncalli in the winner’s bracket tonight at 7 p.m. All times are mountain time.
From the Class C Senior American Legion Baseball State Tournament, game are being held at Kernel Field in Central City. Wilber and David City are the two remaining undefeated teams at 2-0 entering Monday.
Saturday scores found Wilber defeating Pierce (9-0), Yutan winning over PWG (11-3), David City defeating DCB (8-4) and Alma defeating Central City (6-5). Sunday found PWG eliminating Pierce (10-0) and DCB sent the host team packing of Central City (11-3) while in the winner’s bracket Wilber defeated Yutan (13-2) and David City shutout Alma (11-0).
Monday’s schedule in the loser’s bracket will feature Yutan vs. DCB at 2 p.m. and Alma vs. PWG at 5 p.m. while Wilber will battle David City at 8 p.m. in the winner’s bracket.
