Team USA D-2 Women’s Basketball Team Opens Brazil Tour

BRAZIL – The 2017 USA D-2 women’s basketball team took part in a pair of games over the last two day during the Brazil Tour.

Members making up the team include Wayne State senior forwards Paige Ballinger and Maggie Schulte as well as head coach Chris Kielsmeier and assistant coach Kelly Kielsmeier. Other players are Chelsey Henry (Missouri Southern), Paige Imhoff and Brenlee McPherson (Pittsburg State), Tanya Meyer (Northwest Missouri State), Paige Redmond (Central Missouri), Miranda Ristau (Northern State) as well as Cassidy Thorson and Jacky Volkert (MSU Moorhead).

The group is represented by five players from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association as well as five players and two coaches from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Team USA picked up a 100-22 win on Tuesday and a closer 70-59 win on Wednesday. Check out a blog from Wildcat Senior Maggie Schulte at wscwildcats.com as the team will have Thursday and Friday off to visit Copacabana Beach and Christ Statue.

Next games will be played on Saturday, August 5 and Monday, August 7 before the team is slated to be back state-side on Wednesday, August 9.
