Wahoo Strikes In Fourth To Upset Winnebago, Indians Back To Consolation Game

LINCOLN – Day two action opened from the Pinnacle Bank Arena and Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln Friday morning.

In Class C1 from the PBA, #1 Winnebago took on #5 Wahoo.

Early on the Indians led 17-14 after the first and added another 14-12 in the second. Winnebago found themselves ahead 31-26 at half. Winnebago outscored the Warriors again in the third, 15-14, but stayed close. Wahoo made their move in the fourth with a 15-6 run to win 55-52. Wahoo is now 22-5 while Bago falls back to 27-3.

Junior Brendan Lacey paced Wahoo in scoring with 21 points as senior Jacob Ruzicka added another 16.

Senior David Wingett led Winnebago with 13 points while both senior Cedrick Blackdeer and junior MaNaPe Cleveland each scored 10 points.

Wahoo will battle with #2 Bishop Neumann in the C1 Championship game at 9 a.m. Saturday from the PBA. Bishop won over #3 Columbus Scotus 48-36 as the Shamrocks will have a District rematch with Winnebago at 11 a.m. at Lincoln East.
