Wakefield Post 81 Unable To Record A Hit, Score A Run In Defeat To West Point

WEST POINT – After taking part in the South Sioux City Tournament over the weekend, the Wakefield Post 81 Junior American Legion baseball team hit to the road Monday evening.

From Anderson Field, West Point played host to Wakefield Post 81.

West Point scored a run in each of the first and second innings to lead 2-0. West Point then did the bulk of their scoring in the third with four runs and five more in the fourth to win 11-0 in four and a half innings. Wakefield falls back to 5-9 on the season.

Offensively, Wakefield was unable to record a hit or produce a run. Post 81 had one baserunner in Blake Brown who recorded a walk.

Seth Nuernberger suffered the loss in three and two-thirds allowing eight runs (seven earned) off of five hits while striking out two batters but walking another five. Solomon Peitz allowed three earned runs off of one hit while walking five batters and didn’t record an out. Gabe Peitz worked the final third of an inning throwing four pitches.

Wakefield Post 81 is off the next two days and will host Norfolk on Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. from Eaton Field in Wakefield.
