Wakefield Volleyball Counters With Road Sweep

PENDER – Following a home three-set defeat hosting a top 10 Class C2 volleyball team, the Wakefield Trojans took to the road Thursday evening.

Wakefield traveled to Pender and swept the Pendragons (25-22, 25-10, 25-20) to improve to 3-9 on the season while Pender fell back to 3-6.

Junior Jessica Borg went off for a 12-kill performance with eight set assists, eight digs and three blocks while junior Devaney Brown added another seven kills. Senior Andrea Lopez and junior Breanna Chase each accounted for four service aces as Chase led the team in set assists with 14. Senior Rachel Brudigam posted a team-high 12 digs followed by 11 each from Lopez and Brown.

Wakefield will next compete in pair of road triangulars. The Trojans will visit Randolph and take on Allen on September 19 and visit Hartington-Newcastle and battle with Wausa on September 26.
