PIERCE – Competing in their second of three-scheduled road triangulars, the Wayne High volleyball team was in Pierce Tuesday evening.
WHS took on Boone Central/Newman Grove in their first match and swept the Cardinals (25-11, 25-15 *MaxPreps.com) while also winning in straight sets over Pierce (25-14, 25-19). Wayne High is now 11-10 on the season and will next visit Crofton on Thursday, October 5.
In the win over BC/NG, senior Kylie Hammer led the team at the net with eight kills and seven digs followed by five from junior Katelyn Grone. Junior Ashton Boyer paced the team in digs with eight while sophomore Erin O’Reilly added 11 set assists. Sophomore Emily Armstrong tacked on three service aces.
During the win over Pierce, Boyer led the team with nine kills while freshman Lauren Pick added another six. Sophomore Allyson Avery was the team leader in set assists with 14 while Hammer added a team-high 10 digs.
The Wayne High JV volleyball team swept Boone Central/Newman Grove (25-22, 26-24) and Pierce (25-18, 25-16).
