LAUREL – Following two days off from competition for the Juniors and a day off for the Seniors, the Wayne Post 43 American Legion baseball team was back in action Wednesday.
Wayne visited Laurel.
During the Juniors contest, Wayne Post 43 jumped out front with a seven-run first inning. Wayne tacked on another run in the second, outscored Laurel 4-1 in the third and scored two more runs in the fourth to win 14-1. Wayne Post 43 Juniors are now 10-7 on the season.
Kaleb Anderson recorded a single, triple and three RBI’s to pace Wayne at the plate. Reid Korth singled twice and drove in a pair of runs while Blake Bartos added two singles and a RBI. Trevor DeBoer and Hagan Miller each doubled and drove in two runs as Jacob Kneifl tacked on a triple.
Drew Buck picked up the complete game win in four innings allowing one run off of two hits while striking out six batters.

Moving into the Seniors game, Laurel led 2-0 after the first inning. Wayne Post 43 then scored three runs each in the third and fourth innings to lead 6-1. Laurel added a run in the home half of the fourth before Wayne scored once in the fifth and added four more runs in the sixth to win 11-3. Wayne Post 43 is now 8-4 on the season.
Justin Dean recorded a single, double and RBI to pace Wayne at the plate. Payten Gamble singled twice and drove in a run while Tyler Lutt added two singles. Zane Jackson also doubled and tacked on two RBI’s.
Tyler Lutt picked up the win in five innings allowing three earned runs off of seven hits while striking out seven batters. Gamble worked the final inning, striking out three batters in 16 pitches.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors will be back in action Thursday evening when they visit Yankton at 6 p.m. Yankton won in Wayne on June 6, 10-8 in nine innings.
The Wayne Post 43 Seniors will be off until Friday when they join their Juniors for a home double header with Ponca. Game times are set for 5:45/8 p.m. form Hank Overin Field.
