WAYNE – After suffering two straight losses on Saturday during the 2017 Max Greve Wood Bat Tournament, the Wayne Post 43 Seniors competed in their final game Sunday afternoon.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 competed with Pierce.
Pierce used a two-run first and added another run in the second to lead 3-0. Wayne Post 43 then brought in a run during the fifth and two more in the sixth to force extra innings with the time limit approaching. Wayne executed a squeeze bunt as the winning run came across the plate in the eighth. Wayne won 4-3 and are now 7-3 on the season.
Tucker Nichols doubled during one of his two hits and singled while driving in the game winning run of Payten Gamble. Adam Bentjen and Zane Jackson doubled each driving in a run. Bentjen also singled while Caden Korth added a single and RBI.
Daniel Nuno worked a third of the first inning allowing two earned runs while striking out one batter but walking three. Brennen O’Reilly pitched three innings allowing an earned run off of four hits while striking out four batters and walking two. Caden Korth pitched the final four and two-thirds striking out eight batters and walking three.

Wayne Post 43 will compete in a Seniors only contest with Battle Creek on Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m.
The Ainsworth vs. Lennox (South Dakota) Seniors game was switched to Hank Overin Field in Wayne Sunday morning. Lennox defeated Ainsworth 12-2.
