Wayne State Volleyball Falls To #17

WAYNE – Following a six-game road stand over the past two weekends in Colorado, the Wayne State College volleyball team came out with a 5-3 record.

In a release Monday from the Wayne State Athletics Department, the Wildcats slid five spots to #17 in the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.

WSC posted a 2-2 record on Saturday during the Steel and Silver Volleyball Classic in Pueblo and Colorado Springs, Colorado to now sit 5-3 overall.

Wayne State received a total of 359 points in voting conducted by various Division II coaches across the country. It’s the 105th consecutive national ranking for the WSC volleyball program dating back to September 28, 2009.

The Wildcats will open conference play on Thursday, September 14 when Sioux Falls comes to Rice Auditorium for a 6 p.m. start. WSC will also visit #1 Southwest Minnesota State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Other NSIC volleyball teams ranked inside the top 25 are #1 SMSU, #2 Concordia-St. Paul, #7 Minnesota Duluth, #9 Augustana, #11 Winona State and #24 Northern State.
