Wayne State Volleyball Moves Up One Spot In Division II Rankings

WAYNE – The Wayne State College volleyball team had a bounce-back week with three straight match wins and nine conservative sets won.

WSC moved up one spot to #21 in this week’s AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll released Monday afternoon.

#21 Wayne State College improved to 10-6 overall (4-3 NSIC) with three home sweeps over non-conference South Dakota School of Mines, Minnesota Crookston (NSIC) and Bemidji State (NSIC) last week.

Wayne State received 216 points in voting conducted by various Division II coaches from across the country.

It’s the 108th consecutive national ranking for the WSC volleyball program dating back to September 28, 2009.

Other NSIC teams ranked inside the top 25 include: #1 Southwest Minnesota State, #2 Concordia-St. Paul, #6 Minnesota Duluth all remained the same, #13 Northern State moved up one spot, trading with #14 Winona State who fell back one spot and #17 Augustana remained in the same spot. Sioux Falls (25) and Upper Iowa (25) are both receiving votes on two or more ballots.

Wayne State will be on the road this weekend for NSIC contests at the University of Mary on Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m. and Minot State on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
