WAYNE – Following the second winning record in last 11 seasons for the Wayne State College women’s soccer team, head coach Bruce Erickson has resigned to become the new head coach at Division I Northern Iowa.

Erickson recently completed his second season at Wayne State College, leading the Wildcats to a 9-6-3 overall record and 6-6-3 in the NSIC. The nine overall wins were the most for a Wildcat soccer team since 2006 and six league wins were the most at WSC since the 2005 season.

Coach Erickson finished 13-17-6 during his two years at WSC.

Director of Athletics for Wayne State College, Mike Powicki, mentioned assistant coach Joe Cleary will take charge of all Wildcat women’s soccer operations during the interim process. The search for a new head women’s soccer coach at Wayne State College will begin immediately.
