WAYNE – The Wayne State College baseball team took part in a pair of Sunday afternoon games from the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex.
Minot State University was back in town and would take an early lead with a run in the first before WSC added single runs in the first and second innings. Minot State then scored twice in the third while adding one run each in the fourth and fifth to lead 5-2. WSC scored one run in the bottom of the fifth as both teams scored twice in the sixth and the Beavers tacked on two more runs in the seventh to win 9-5.
Senior Cody Jenkins was one hit shy of the cycle. He recorded a homerun, single and triple while adding two RBI’s. Junior David Janes accounted for a double with two RBI’s.
Freshman Aiden Breedlove suffered the loss (1-2) in four and two-third innings of work allowing five runs (four earned) off of 10 hits while striking out four batters and walking one.

The bats then were unleashed in the final game of the series with Wayne State out hitting the Beavers 22-4. WSC scored three runs in the first two innings, before adding a run in the fourth, three more in the fifth and six in the sixth. Minot State only scored once in the seventh as the ‘Cats won 15-1 and improve to 5-9 overall (1-3 NSIC). The Beavers are now 6-3 (3-1 NSIC).
Senior Tandon Dorn was also one hit shy of the cycle Sunday with a single, two doubles and a triple while accounting for four RBI’s. Senior Aaron Krier accounted for a home run (two hits), senior Bodie Cooper (three hits) doubled while junior Tanner Simons and Jenkins recorded three hits and two RBI’s.
Senior Teague McFadden picked up the complete game win (1-1) in seven innings of work allowing one run off of four hits while striking out seven batters and walking two.

WSC will take part in a non-conference, nine-inning game at William Jewell on Tuesday, March 21.
