WAYNE – Following a weekend sweep and road split for the Wayne State College Wildcat women’s and men’s basketball teams, the ‘Cats will have a busy month of January home games.
From the four weekends in January, WSC will be on the road only once. Wayne State College is scheduled to host Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, January 5 as Minnesota State-Mankato comes to town on Saturday, January 6.
The Wildcat women enter the weekend third in the South Division with a 12-4 overall record, 6-2 in league play. Concordia-St. Paul is sixth in the division at 4-9 (1-6 NSIC) and just ahead of the Golden Bears in fifth are the Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks at 4-9 (2-5 NSIC).
In the men’s league, WSC sits 9-7 (4-4 NSIC) and are tied for fourth in the South Division. Minnesota State-Mankato leads the South Division with a 10-3 (6-1 NSIC) record as Concordia-St. Paul is eighth at 2-11 (1-6 NSIC).
This is the second meeting for WSC with their NSIC South Division foes of CSP and MSU-Mankato.
During the first meeting, the Wayne State College women won in Mankato (81-69) and in St. Paul, Minnesota (79-62) December 1-2.
In the opening weekend of December from the men’s games, Minnesota State-Mankato beat the ‘Cats (86-58) as WSC won at Concordia-St. Paul (76-57).
