WAYNE – After the Wayne State College football season came to an end in November, senior defensive back Glenn Harris has been earning some post season accolades.
This past Friday, January 5 the Kansas City, Missouri native earned his second post season honor after being voted to the D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team on December 1 with a Second Team All-Region honor. Now, Harris was named to the D2Football.com All-America Team, receiving Honorable Mention honors as the team highlights the best 100 players to play in 2017.
Harris was also a First Team All-NSIC South Division selection this season after leading Wayne State and the NSIC with eight interceptions this season, which was tied for second in NCAA Division II. His eight interceptions also tied a single season school record shared by Steve Besch (1984) and Charlie Wendt (1970). Harris also tied for third in the NSIC this season with 12 passes defended.
Harris made interceptions in six games this season that included a season-best three interceptions at Augustana on September 30 that tied a single game school record held by four other players. He also recorded interceptions vs. Mary, Minnesota Duluth, at Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul and Upper Iowa.
Harris had 34 tackles including 27 solo stops this season to go with 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four breakups. He recorded a season best six tackles, all solo, at #1 Minnesota State on November 4.
Wayne State College finished the season at 6-5 overall and fourth in the NSIC South with a 4-3 divisional mark. It was the first winning season for the Wildcats since 2012.
