SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Wayne State College Wildcat men’s basketball team took part in the Sanford Pentagon Showcase over the Thanksgiving weekend where they played two games in two days.
From the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, WSC competed with New York Institute of Technology Saturday morning.
Wayne State College pushed their lead out to four points, 30-26 at the half. Then, in the second half outscored New York Institute of Technology 48-31 to win 78-57. Saturday mornings win marked the fourth straight for WSC who improved to then 4-1 while the Bears fell to then 2-2.
Junior guard Kendall Jacks led all Wildcats in scoring with 20 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore center Tony Bonner followed with 19 points as junior guard Trevin Joseph Jr. added another 10 points.
WSC went 29-57 (50.9%) from the field, 6-14 (42.9%) from behind the arc and 14-23 (60.9%) at the foul line. The ‘Cats also recorded 16 assists to 17 turnovers while adding two block shots and eight steals.
The Wayne State men are back in action Sunday evening taking on Central Missouri.
