Wildcat Softball Players Earn NFCA/Easton All-America Scholar Athlete Awards

WAYNE – With spring sports still some ways out, the Wayne State College softball team is in the news from their classroom performance.

Tuesday afternoon, seven Wildcat softball players earned the NFCA/Easton All-America Scholar Athlete Award. This award was announced by the National Fast Pitch Association from the 2016-17 season.

Student Athletes with a 3.5 grade point average or higher are eligible for the award.

Members of the Wildcat softball team that received the honor were seniors Melanie Alyea and Alyssa Schropp; junior Jordyn Breitbarth, Rachel Shumaker and Katelyn Wobken; sophomore Abbie Hix and freshman Jenna Stewart.

The Wayne State College Wildcat softball team finished their 2017 campaign 11-39 (5-21 NSIC). WSC will open their 2018 season during the 8-State Classic February 16 – 18, 2018 in Arkansas.
