WAYNE – As the Wayne State College Wildcat women’s soccer team saw their season come to a close this past Sunday, an individual has earned a post season accolade.
The 2017 NSIC Soccer All-Conference Teams were announced Thursday and Wildcat junior forward Christina Stasi was on the list earning honorable mention. She also earned All-NSIC Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2015 after scoring three goals (two game-winning goals) with seven points.
The Omaha native (Millard North HS) led WSC this season in goals (four), points (nine) and shots on goal (14) while sitting second in shots (26) and starting all but one contest of the 18 matches.
Stasi scored goals at Augustana (8/31/17), vs. Upper Iowa (9/24/17), at Northern State (10/1/17) and vs. Minnesota Duluth (10/22/17). She also assisted on a goal vs. Black Hills State (9/4/17).
Wayne State finished the 2017 season with a 4-8-6 overall record and tied for 12th in the NSIC with 14 points by going 3-7-5 in league play.
Bemidji State took all the top conference honors with the Offensive, Defensive, Goalkeeper, Freshman and Coach of the Year.
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Soccer Tournament will continue today with #2 Bemidji State battling #3 Augustana at 11 a.m. followed by #1 Minnesota State-Mankato vs. #5 University of Mary at 2 p.m. from Mankato, Minnesota. The Championship match is scheduled for Sunday, November 5 at 2 p.m.

Freshman of the Year: #15 Allyson Smith (F, 5’7, Fr., Brainerd, Minn. / Brainerd HS)
Coach of the Year: Jim Stone (16th Season)
