LINCOLN – While the Scotus – Winnebago matchup on Saturday was only for third place, it certainly didn’t feel like it.
The two Class C powerhouses battled in an intense back and forth game at Lincoln East High School with the Indians winning on a buzzer beater in overtime.
The game was tited at 18-18 at the end of the first, and 34-34 at halftime.
Senior Cedric Blackdear hit a three-pointer nearly 10 feet behind the line to win the game for ‘Bago 71-68. Scotus forced overtime thanks to a put-back from senior Evan Chohon as time was expiring.
David Wingett finished the game with 27 points for Winnebago, Blackdear had 14.
Scotus’s Trevor Kaslon led the Shamrocks with 17 points.
