Young Players Come Up Big in Season-Opening Win for Marian

NORFOLK – Despite starting two freshman, Omaha Marian looked like the more comfortable team in Thursday’s season-opener, taking down Norfolk 36-22.

Both teams struggled from the field early, but the Crusaders were able to pull away in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Panthers 12-5.

Marian got 15 points combined from freshmen starters Ary Harrison and Cece Hacker.

Norfolk’s offensive woes included an 18% shooting performance from the field, and a 40% performance from the charity stripe.

Marian (1-0) will face Millard North on Saturday, while Norfolk (0-1) will try to bounce back against defending Class A state champ Lincoln Southwest.
