Madison County Sheriff's Office Investigates Sunday Morning Rollover Near HWY 35 Roundabout
NORFOLK - Two people were taken to the hospital following an early Sunday morning single vehicle rollover, just east of Norfolk.
Madison County Sheriff's officials received the call just before 1:00am Sunday morning after a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Bryant Irish of Bassett was traveling westbound on East Norfolk Ave. near the roundabout with Highway 35. The truck had failed to negotiate a curve, and rolled after hitting a culvert in the southern ditch. Subsequent investigation found a passenger in the truck, identified as 19-year-old Dillon Fales, also of Bassett, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Both men were transported from the scene to Faith Regional for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, Fales was later transported, via ambulance, to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
Conditions of the two are unknown as of Monday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Prather said that a mixture of vehicle speed, icy conditions, and alcohol were factors leading to the crash. Prather also said that neither occupants were wearing seat belts.
Prather said the investigation into the crash is continuing .
