Investigation Ongoing into Fire that Destroys Home in Norfolk
NORFOLK - Norfolk Fire and Rescue officials are investigating what caused an apartment house to go up in flames.
According to Norfolk Fire Marshall Terry Zwiebel, his crew received a call of a fire at the residence of 1004 Koenigstein Avenue just before 6 o'clock Wednesday evening.
Zwiebel: "Crews arrived on scene and there was fire involved with lots of smoke coming out of the lower level of the house. It took us about two to two and a half hours to really get it under control because this is a five apartment house converted from a single family dwelling, so was pretty well cut up. There were a lot of places for fire to hide, so it took us a while to get to that."
Norfolk Fire Lt. Bob Nelson says the fire did an estimated $100,000 worth of damage to the house, which is owned by James Treat. No one was injured.
