5 year-old Dies After Tornado Ravages Pilger
PILGER - Monday's powerful tornado took the life of a 5 year-old child and sent dozens to area hospitals.
Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger confirms that a 5 year-old child was pronounced dead at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk following injuries sustained from the tornado in Pilger. Another tornado victim was transferred to an Omaha hospital and remains in critical condition.
A total of 18 patients were admitted to the Emergency Department at Faith Regional while others were taken to hospitals in Wayne and Pender.
First responders were also called to a home-based day care on 563-and-a-half Avenue where five individuals were found in or near the wreckage of the home. Their condition is unknown at this time but all were transported to Faith Regional Hospital for treatment.
