Old Tilden Fire Hall up for Auction
TILDEN - The Tilden City Council held a special meeting Thursday night to officially rule on the future of the city's old fire hall.
The city in late 2013 entered into a joint venture with the Tilden Rural Fire Protection District to build a new fire hall that meets the current demands for the Tilden Volunteer Fire Department. Tilden City officials decided in December to sell the building, and Tilden Mayor Steve Rutjens said the special meeting was called to clarify the sales procedure
Mayor Rutjens: "The fire hall is going up for auction on April 1st and it will be an open auction. The city will have a right to refuse any bids if it doesn't being what we feel needs to be brought."
The council approved the auction sale with four council members voting yes and one abstaining from the vote.
The City Council does have thirty-days to approve or reject the auction price of the fire hall.
