Northeast Nebraska Communities Coming Together for Storm Cleanup
CRAIG (US92/KTIV) - Residents are continuing to clean up across northeast Nebraska following Tuesday's hail storm. Dylan Jensen, of Uehling spent the majority of Wednesday helping his family clean up and assess the damage in Craig.
Jensen: "Community is coming together great. I guess this is what you always dream about when you picture yourself living in a small town. Everyone helps each other. Neighbors become family members and everyone takes care of each other."
Representatives with the Nebraska Public Power District also spent Wednesday in and around the Craig area addressing downed power lines and other infrastructure damaged by the storm. NPPD's Doug Klug said that the Craig area took a brunt of the damage
Klug: "A lot of structural damage, we lost poles, services to homes were tore down, a lot of debris in the alleys. We had a difficult time getting up and down alleys to even begin repair work because there were so many trees down around town.
More than 120 people in Craig were without power most of the day, but Klug said most residents in the community had power restored by Wednesday afternoon.
