Scheer Introducing Legislation to Make College Credits Universally Transferable
NORFOLK - Course credits would be universally transferable between colleges within the State of Nebraska under legislation introduced in Lincoln by State Senator Jim Scheer of Norfolk. Scheer said currently students who transfer from one institution in the state to another will have their credits transfer to the new school as a general education credit, rather than for the class it was originally earned for. Under the proposed legislation
Sen. Scheer (Norfolk): "If you took first year English at Northeast [Community College] transferred to UNL or UNO or to Wayne [State College] it would cover that requirement. And conversely, if you took English at UNL and for whatever reason moved back to Norfolk and wanted to go to Northeast, it would take care of that requirement from their perspective as well."
LB779 has been referred to the Legislature's Education Committee.
