Creighton School Board Holds Special Meeting with Community
CREIGHTON-One Northeast Nebraska school district is keeping their community informed regarding a potential merger with four other rural school districts.
The Creighton School Board held a special meeting Monday evening to discuss the current threats facing the district, and ideas discussed regarding sharing resources with the neighboring districts of Plainview, Wausa, Bloomfield, and Osmond.
Creighton Superintendent Jeff Jensen says about 30 people attended the public meeting, and included a question about what happens to the district if they don't consider the merger.
Jensen says the educational landscape continues to progress rapidly.
Jensen: "I believe if we don't do something, we are really going to struggle five years from now. In 10 years things are going to be incredibly difficult. Then who knows what happens to us 15 years from now. Unfortunately it might mean closing your doors.
The five districts will hold another study committee meeting next Monday evening in Wausa.
