Ricketts Talks Property Taxes in Pierce
PIERCE - Early voting in the May 13th primary election began this morning, and with less than thirty-days before voters hit the ballot box candidates are continuing to take their message to northeast Nebraska voters. Pete Ricketts, Republican candidate for Governor held a town hall Monday morning at the Pierce Senior Center in Pierce. Ricketts said that property tax rates were on the minds of may in Pierce.
Ricketts: and how it's impacting the farmers around here. Especially folks were telling me that valuations last year go up 30%. That's a big impact on a producer, and that's why part of my plan for growing agriculture here in Nebraska addresses how we can address property taxes."
Ricketts' plan calls for reducing ag land property tax valuations from 75% to 65%, capping how fast the valuations can raise, and adding money to the state's property tax credit relief fund.
