Appointed Public Defender Files for Election to the Office
MADISON - The 2014 race for Madison County Public Defender is now a two-person race. Current Public Defender Kyle Melia has filed for the May primary to retain the office. Melia was appointed to the position by the Madison County Board of Commissioners in July 2013. We asked Melia why Madison County voters should elect him to the office.
Melia: "I really enjoy the job and I really work hard at doing it. I know what I'm doing, I know that kind of sounds bravado but it's a job that I really enjoy doing and really like working at helping Madison County folks. Especially those who don't have a lot of money and have been charged with crimes."
Melia will face fellow Republican Matthew Headley in the May 13th primary.
