Funeral services for Florence Leland, age 89, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Norfolk. Pastor Caleb Lind will officiate, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk.
Florence died Saturday, September 2, 2017, at her residence.
Florence A. Leland was born April 1, 1928, to Richard and Stella Walters. She was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. After graduating from Norfolk Senior High in 1947, Florence married Austin Leland in 1950. The couple had three sons, Steven of Southwest Ranches, Florida, Rodger Leland of Hollywood, Florida and Randy (Nick) of Norfolk. For many years, she managed the Dairy Sweet drive-in on Omaha Avenue. Following retirement, Florence could always found volunteering at the Orphan Grain Train, her church, manning voter polling stations, and was active in the Gold Star Mothers organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Richard and Floyd Walters.
She is survived by her three sons; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
