Funeral service for Mabel E. Bockelmann, 96, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with Rev. Dr. David E. Cox officiating. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday at the Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Monday also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Mabel passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel Evelyn (Nelson) Bockelmann, daughter of Nels and Emma (Lenz) Nelson was born November 8, 1920 on a farm, rural Osmond, NE. She was baptized and confirmed in Osmond.

Mabel grew up on the family farm and attended District #29 east of Osmond and then District #44 to the 10th grade. Mabel married Louie Bockelmann on September 22, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk. After marriage, they moved to a farm north of Pierce and farmed there for 19 years. In 1960, they moved to another farm 3 ½ miles northwest of Pierce and farmed and started a business selling and repairing Motorola T.V.’s.

In 1971, Louie and Mabel retired and moved to Norfolk. After Louie’s passing on December 7, 1987, Mabel later sold her house in 2010 and moved to the Meadows and then later Heritage of Bel Air where she passed away to her heavenly home.

Mabel enjoyed working with her husband and working outside keeping their yard beautiful. They enjoyed traveling and fishing, family gatherings, and especially for the Corn Husker football games. Her favorites were reading and shopping. Church was an important aspect in her life; she was very active helping with funerals when needed and was strong in her faith.

Mabel is survived by one sister-in-law Jeanne Nelson of Battle Creek. Several nieces and nephews

She is preceded in death by her husband Louie, parents, five sisters Eva (Joe) Blunck, Ethel (Harold) Larsen, Edna Nelson in infancy, Chrystal (Dale) Ulrich, Ruth (John) Sporleder, and three brothers Clarence, Aden, and Sidney Nelson.

Organist will be Steve Reinke. Casket bearers will be Ronald Van Ackeran, Josh Kirstine, Jerry Nelson, LeRoy Uttecht, Tony Uttecht, Dave Riggert.
