LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police are reminding the public to not leave their vehicles running unattended after 35 auto thefts have been reported this month.
At least 15 of those were left running or had keys sitting in the console.
One of the thefts involved a Papa John’s delivery driver on Nov. 27.
The incident occurred at 9:10 p.m. at 1149 Turtle Creek Drive. The driver left his vehicle running in the driveway of the residence, and went to deliver the pizza.
The thief jumped into the vehicle and drove away in the 2002 Ford Escape.
The victim’s phone and wallet were left inside the car. Police traced the phone, but did not find the vehicle.
The Ford Escape is valued at $2,500.
