Fairbury Softball Teams Trying to Raise Money for Nationals Trips

FAIRBURY – It’s been a good summer for Fairbury softball. Both the Fairbury Elite 18s and the Fairbury Husker Rehab 14s teams are headed to nationals, and they need your help.

For Fairbury Elite, their destination is Watertown, Wisconsin for the USA Softball 18U National Tournament. Fairbury Husker Rehab is headed to USSSA 14U National Tournament in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Both tournaments will be from July 25-30.

President of the Fairbury Girls Softball Board, Lana Likens said, “For Fairbury to have two teams going to national softball tournaments is exciting. Our community can support these teams with two events planned for July.”

The teams are holding a raffle, with tickets being sold by team members for $5. The grand prize will be a $500 meat plate donated by Farmland Foods of Crete.

The winner of the raffle will be drawn during a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 22. The tournament will also be played on Friday the 21. The tournament, taking place at the Fairbury Cloverleaf Softball Complex, will feature teams with a minimum of five men and five women. Entry fee is $150, and the deadline is Sunday, July 16. To enter, contact Tammi Mans at 402-446-2436, or by email at tammi.mans@gmail.com.

All proceeds will go toward the travel expenses for the national tournaments. If a business wants to participate, they can contact Tammi, Lana Likens at 402-587-0432, or Lori Ohlde at 402-239-4683.
