Grand Island, Neb.- The Grand Island Public Library is cutting its hours.
Library Director Steve Fosselman blames the changes—seven fewer hours each week— on budget cuts.
He says one-and-a-half full time positions are being eliminated.
“These schedule changes are being made at the moment so staff can prepare for summer reading programs,” says Fosselman.
Here’s the news schedule:
-Monday-Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (previously it was 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
-Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (previously 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
-Saturday 9:30 am to 5 p.m. (previously it was 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
– Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. (no change)
The Library Board says it reviewed current usage patterns and past reductions in hours to determine the new schedule.
