Lawmaker Wants Bigger Cities to Pay More for Rural Schools

LINCOLN, Nebraska. – Senator Mike Groene wants major cities in Nebraska to pay more for rural schools.

The North Platte lawmaker’s plan would result in higher property taxes for people living in urban districts, like Lincoln and Omaha.

The bill (LB640) is expected to be debated on the floor of the legislature tomorrow.
